Robert Steffen

Robert Steffen is the Director of GRID. He is Emeritus Professor of Travel Medicine at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, where he continues to conduct research. He also is Adjunct Professor in the Epidemiology and Disease Prevention Division of the University of Texas School of Public Health in Houston, TX.

For 12 years each he presided the Swiss Influenza Pandemic Planning Committee and was Vice-President of the Swiss Federal Commission on Vaccinations until February 2009. he also was Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Traveller's Health. He has published more than 350 papers, book chapters and monographs.

Sue Ann Costa Clemens

Sue Ann Costa Clemens is Deputy Director of GRID in charge of supervision of the Clinical Research Organizations worldwide and liaison to the Data Safety Monitoring Board. As Director of GRID RIO she also will be conducting the studies in Latin America. She is Associate Professor in the Research Department of the Carlos Chagas Institute and has been Visiting Professor of Research Methodology at the Army Central Hospital, both in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has conducted many vaccine studies and campaigns and has received Honorary Citizenship by the Mayor of Trajano de Moraes for the implementation of the first Hepatitis A and B vaccination campaign of that City in 1997.

Frank von Sonnenburg

Frank von Sonnenburg is Deputy Director of GRID in charge of data management and statistics. He has been working in a number of developing countries and at the WHO Global Program on AIDS. Since 1992 he is deputy director of the Department of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases of University of Munich, where he heads the Section of International Medicine and Public Health. He conducted many studies, mainly in the field of infectious diseases and vaccinology and he is member of the German Board for Vaccine Recommendations. He has published more than 140 peer reviewed papers.
